Now tourists and residents
alike can experience San Francisco through Hollywood’s
eyes.
San Francisco, October 15, 2005– San Francisco
Movie Tours announced today that they are bringing the
rich cinematic history of San Francisco to life with
their luxury motorcoach city-wide movie tour. Beginning
in December 2005, guests will have the opportunity to
visit over 60 of the most famous movie locations in
San Francisco.
The unmatched beauty of San Francisco combined with
its riches of instantly recognizable structures and
locales has attracted filmmakers from around the world
for over 100 years. Did you know that San Francisco
is the home of more than 1,000 movies? Or that San Francisco
was the setting for the first talking picture, The Jazz
Singer? Or that the very first time people sat down
to a real movie screening was in San Francisco?
This December, guests will have the opportunity to discover
this unique sensation that is sure to become a “must-do”
in San Francisco. While passing by actual movie locations,
guests will watch movie clips on the big screen and
learn behind-the-scenes information and trivia about
their favorite films, directors and actors.
In addition to seeing traditional San Francisco landmarks
such as Fisherman’s Wharf, Chinatown, Union Square
and Golden Gate Park, guests will delight in:
| • |
standing in the exact location
where Jimmy Stewart pulled Kim Novak from the water
in Vertigo. |
 |
| • |
viewing the Golden Gate Bridge,
as they experience the many disasters that have
befallen the bridge, from an octopus attack to its
destruction at the hands of an electromagnetic field.
|
 |
| • |
exploring the streets of the
famous Bullitt chase scene |
 |
| • |
seeing where Lauren Bacall hid
Humphrey Bogart in the 1947 classic, Dark Passage. |
San Francisco's scenic beauty and colorful architecture
has long been a magnet for filmmakers seeking dramatic
movie locations. Visitors often ask where to find locations
for movies such as Mrs. Doubtfire, The Rock and Vertigo.
Companies like San Francisco Movie Tours help enhance
the visitor experience and contribute to promoting San
Francisco as a top visitor destination,” commented
Laurie Armstrong, Vice President, Public Relations of
the San Francisco Convention & Visitors Bureau.

for private groups. Whether it is stopping by the house
made famous in Mrs. Doubtfire or visiting Mel’s
Diner from Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner and American
Graffiti, these tours are perfect for private parties,
family gatherings, school trips or company outings.
Groups can customize tours to visit exclusive movie
locations outside throughout the greater San Francisco
Bay Area.
